Team Fiji has named Gerard Takayawa as its judo representative for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Takayawa has been selected as part of Team Fiji’s wider Commonwealth Games delegation, with Michael Liptrot listed as coach for the judo team.

The selection continues Fiji’s strong connection to judo on the Commonwealth Games stage, with the Takayawa name well known across Oceania judo and the wider sporting community. Gerard will now have the opportunity to represent Fiji at one of the world’s major multi-sport events, as Oceania judoka prepare to compete in Glasgow.

The Oceania Judo Union congratulates Gerard Takayawa, Coach Michael Liptrot, Team Fiji, Fiji Judo, FASANOC, and the wider Fijian judo community on this selection.

With Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and Fiji now naming athletes for Glasgow 2026, Oceania’s judo representation continues to build ahead of the Games.
