The Oceania Judo Union is pleased to look ahead to the 2026 Tahiti Oceania Open, taking place in French Polynesia from 13–14 June 2026.

With more than 60 athletes registered from 13 countries, the event will bring together judoka from across Oceania and beyond for two days of international competition at the Complexe Sportif AS AORAI PIRAE.

The competition marks another important moment for judo in French Polynesia, with Tahiti continuing to strengthen its place as a valued host within the Oceania judo calendar. The event will feature senior men’s and women’s weight categories, with competition held under IJF rules and a quarter-final repechage format.

Oceania Judo Union President Kate Corkery said the return of the Oceania Open to Tahiti was a special occasion for the region.

“We are particularly delighted to welcome the Oceania Open back to Tahiti, a place that holds a special position in the judo community of our region.”

She also highlighted the broader significance of the event.

“The Oceania Open is an important fixture in the international judo calendar and provides a valuable opportunity for athletes from across Oceania and around the world to compete at a high level while strengthening the spirit of friendship that defines our sport.”

For the Polynesian Judo Federation, the 2026 edition continues a strong period of event delivery in Tahiti. Federation President Stéphane Gustin said hosting the event was both an honour and a source of pride.

“It is a great pleasure and a source of pride for our Federation to host the 4th edition of the Oceania Open in Tahiti, especially as this marks our third consecutive edition of the event.”

He said the continuity of the competition reflected the growing trust and collaboration between the Oceania Judo Union and the local organising team.

“The continuity of this competition reflects the strong relationship of trust with the Oceania Judo Union, which has recognized the quality of the event organization in French Polynesia.”

Competition will begin on Saturday, 13 June, with the women’s -48kg, -52kg, -57kg and -63kg divisions and the men’s -60kg, -66kg and -73kg divisions. The second day, Sunday, 14 June, will feature the women’s -70kg, -78kg and +78kg divisions and the men’s -81kg, -90kg, -100kg and +100kg divisions.

A training camp will also be held following the competition from 15–17 June 2026 at the Federal Dojo in Arue, providing athletes with a further opportunity to train, connect and develop alongside international peers.

The Oceania Judo Union extends its appreciation to the Polynesian Judo Federation, the local organising committee, volunteers, officials, coaches and supporting partners for their work in preparing the event.

The 2026 Tahiti Oceania Open promises to be a strong celebration of competition, culture and friendship in the Pacific.
