The Oceania Judo Union is pleased to announce that the 2027 Oceania Judo Championships will be hosted in Tahiti, in partnership with the Fédération Polynésienne de Judo (FPJ), and delivered alongside the Pacific Games.
This alignment reflects a strategic commitment to accessibility, participation, and regional impact. Hosting the Oceania Championships and the Pacific Games in the same location and timeframe reduces cost and logistical barriers for Member Federations, while creating a stronger competitive and cultural experience for athletes and officials.
“Aligning the Oceania Championships with the Pacific Games in Tahiti strengthens participation, improves accessibility, and brings our region together in a meaningful way,” said the OJU President.
Tahiti offers a world-class setting for this combined event, supported by a strong sporting culture and experienced local organisers. The Fédération Polynésienne de Judo brings proven capability and deep commitment to the development of judo across the Pacific, and the OJU looks forward to working closely with FPJ and Pacific Games stakeholders to deliver a high-quality championship.
Stéphane Gustin, President of the Fédération Polynésienne de Judo, said: “We are honoured to host the 2027 Oceania Judo Championships in Tahiti alongside the Pacific Games. I would like to sincerely thank the Oceania Judo Union and the International Judo Federation for their trust. This represents a major opportunity for our athletes, our federation, and for the development of judo across Oceania. Tahiti is ready to welcome the judo family and to deliver an event that combines high-level sport, cultural identity, and Pacific unity.”
In addition to the Championships, the 2027 OJU Congress will be held in Tahiti during the same period, enabling Member Federations to engage in governance discussions and strategic planning while already gathered for the event.
